Breathe in for a count of 4. Imagine the air is coming from the roots and all the way up into your chest. Relax into your feet and breathe out for a count of 4. <image:caption>Not only do they need to be able to DECODE the words on the page, but they need to read ACCURATELY and FLUENTLY in order to UNDERSTAND what the words are trying to communicate. When a child finds learning to read challenging, it can easily become an activity they try to avoid. Let’s face it, as adults we don’t spend too much time doing things that don’t make us FEEL good. As a parent there are certain things you can do to help your child find an appreciation of reading as a way of gaining knowledge and entertainment.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Children who struggle with putting words down onto paper are typically very CREATIVE and IMAGINATIVE. They feel frustrated because they can’t transfer their ideas to the written word and can be judged harshly for not having made enough effort with writing tasks. The best thing you can do in this situation is find ALTERNATIVE ways to get their creativity out there for them and others to see and appreciate.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Helping with vocabulary</image:title>
<image:caption>Helping your child to learn new words gives them better UNDERSTANDING about the world around them and a greater ability to COMMUNICATE their thoughts and feelings. Without a good vocabulary, children will read slower, find it difficult to remember new concepts, tune out of conversations around them and may even have trouble organising their thoughts. Lots of research has suggested that young people with good vocabularies do better at school. It is so IMPORTANT that it cannot be left to chance.</image:caption>

<image:title>What is a specialist dyslexia teacher? - What is a specialist dyslexia teacher?</image:title>
<image:caption>A specialist dyslexia teacher is highly trained to support children who struggle with reading, writing, and spelling, using methods specifically designed for dyslexia. I hold a Level 5 qualification in dyslexia teaching and am a certified Orton-Gillingham (OG) practitioner — one of the most respected, evidence-based approaches for children with dyslexia. The Orton-Gillingham method is considered the gold standard for dyslexia teaching. It is structured, explicit, and multi-sensory, meaning children learn through seeing, hearing, and doing, which helps them connect letters, sounds, and words in a lasting way.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Dyslexia tuition</image:title>
<image:caption>Private tuition gives your child the focused, one-to-one support they need to overcome reading and writing challenges. In a busy classroom, children often struggle to get the attention they need — schools are noisy, lessons move quickly, and teachers may not have time to provide the structured, multi-sensory teaching that children with dyslexia require. With private tuition, your child can learn at their own pace, receive step-by-step guidance, and build skills, confidence, and independence. Plus, I work with families to give you practical strategies to support learning at home, so progress continues beyond the lesson.</image:caption>
